From the moment that Mike Davis said we were going to be invited to JMU by the president’s office through the President Vision Series, I GOT NERVOUS. I knew the importance of a president of a university and us being invited to speak at one of these series was just overwhelming for each one of us. Before the event started we had lunch with the president. President Jonathan Alger is the leader of an institution that has 20,000 students and is one of the biggest job provider for the city of Harrisburg but despite all of that he’s a simple man. We spent time with him chatting about food, music, education etc..
The event started at 3pm. Today was the first day that we did the presentation all six of us. It all started with Dadi reading his story, then Bryan reading claude’s story and finally Kassy reading Raissa’s story. By the time Kassy was done the whole auditorium(around 310 people) were all silent and in a sober mood. Teta, Ivan and Myself then talked about iDebate Rwanda.
The president then hosted us for a reception with interesting people. The food was amazing( you can ask teta about it) and we had a wonderful time.
The video of the series is coming out in a few weeks
We would love to Thank President Jonathan Alger for everything: the invitation and all the logistics and his executive secretary and of course Mike Davis for all the work for us to be able to be around.
