“Guys we’re leaving at 8:45 so we’ve gotta be ready on time” these were Jean Michel’s words on 10th October, by morning it was clear that none of the guys including himself had followed his instructions. We were ready by 9:30 largely due to prior experience in 5 minute showers.
We had donuts, water, and apple juice for breakfast, which was unusual for most of us, I for one am used to a cup of milk, bread, and a fruit for breakfast. Oh I forgot to say where we were headed… we were headed to town for a bit of tourism… so yeah. We first went to the Civil and Human Rights Museum and you’ll find it’s pictures online J it was beautiful though and we saw the different roles of different people in the civil rights movement in the United states of America, we even saw a copy of Martin Luther King Jr’s death certificate so in case you were wondering he is actually dead). After that we experienced a sit-in simulation. Long ago in USA Black and white people couldn’t sit together so in non-violent protest some people decided to sit together anyway, that was illegal and the people were physically and verbally assaulted, we got to hear and “feel” a sit-in.
We then ate lunch at a restaurant called Paschal’s and then set off for an amazing experience at the Georgia Aquarium. We saw 4 or 5 giant ray Mantras, and we saw 4 whale sharks! We then went for a dolphin show which frankly I can’t explain… but it was simply beautiful.
We then went to eat dinner at a Chinese restaurant and got Ice cream, we ate suchi and Teriyaki and shrimp and many other things that are potentially dangerous to our health.
In conclusion 11th October was an amazing day, I know, I used amazing too much, but there’s really no other way to describe it, I hope we can meet more AMAZING people like Dr. Mike Hester and I hope God continues protecting and just being Awesome to us.
