On December 5th 2014, Wiley College welcomed the iDebate team to Marshall Texas with Christopher Medina, Director of debate as the host. The team managed to share with the Wiley College debate team the essence of debate in Rwanda. The team was given a tour of historical sites within the campus such as James farmer senior’s house, the main hall and the debate squad room.  This brief meeting was the genesis of the GREAT DEBATERS SERIES WORKSHOP

iDebate Rwanda in partnership with the Wiley College Forensics, will organize the first edition of The Great Debaters Workshop Series. It will be conducted by invited coaches from renowned institutions who will train 1090 individuals and equip them with skills ranging from debate, communication, research, screenwriting, forensics, public policy, leadership, to business, management, and accounting. The activities will be done under the theme:” Use your Voice, Affect Change”.

Also iDebate Rwanda in partnership with Writing Our World and MGI consultants will organize the 3rd edition of the East African Debate Championship. The Championship will bring together the 60 best debate teams in the East African region on the 22ndand 23rd of May 2015.

Proposed motion:” The government of Rwanda should adopt the East African treaty by establishing a common market, a monetary union and a political federation of East Africa.”
