Using the words “Tune in next time.” Would usually mean that I either have something exciting to tell you or I have a story that wasn’t completed and boy, do I have some an adventure to tell you about!
We travelled to Frankfurt, Germany. Pretty basic statement right? What I seem to have forgotten to mention is this;
During our layover in Addis, we fell right into a crowd that seemed to constantly be rushing somewhere. It took just about 3 hours (which was also the length of our layover) to realize they were all rushing to catch their next flight. I guess my brain had decided to think that Bole Airport happened to be a cool place where everybody wanted to be at that time. I have to admit that I felt like crap when we landed. All I wanted to do was find a place to sleep, but to my luck, everybody had already secured these long chairs that you could lay on. After what seemed to be like 15 minutes, we found a free bench but there was just one problem; Emma was already laying on it. We literally had to take shifts to sleep. Felt like I was in the middle of a war movie.
As if that wasn’t enough, the second I sat on the chair I seemed to forget what sleep was. Emma brought us some water and the second I sipped it, it’s like everything around me was brought from a sitcom. We just started laughing at everything and everyone. After our little high, we boarded the plane to Frankfurt. That’s where the madness began.
The number of trains we took, I do not even want to start thinking of. The little things matter the most. We happen to think taking a shower is something very small but the second the cold water hit my face, I knew I wasn’t ready to leave the shower. Asking for directions was the second hardest thing I faced. Not having spoken German in 3 years, the hustle was real. I can’t say my experience was the same but it was hard for a first day.
