My name is Mutoni Divine Kitoko I am the coach of the national team that is representing Rwanda in the World School Debate Championship 2016 that is taking place in Stuttgart Germany from 19th – 29th July.
We are a team of 5 composed of 1 judge, 1 coach and 3 debaters . I have been a debater for the past 5 years and I have not regretted my time spent in debate because at the end of the day I find it so much important to my life and I stay so thankful to the iDebate Rwanda for it has changed a lot of people’s lives mine inclusive.
I never had the feeling I had the first time I got to know that I am coaching the team that is representing the country in a global debate championship. I was so humbled that I couldn’t believe it, yes I had debated before but I didn’t know debate would reward me this much, I think of this every single day and it opens up my eyes and say if I can be a coach of the national team why not dream and achieve more. One thing that I have found out in people, is that the biggest obstacle to their success is fear which I said goodbye to today and got more dreams. The WSDC is going to be a great experience that am looking forward to, this is going to be my first time in Germany and the first time too to coach a national team that is attending a global debate competition. It’s not going to be so easy for me but I’ve got what it takes and am so on it. It is my dream to see Team Rwanda shine and make the country so proud of youth today .
Hard work starts today with the team, I am pretty sure they also look forward to the WSDC since it’s the first for the team Rwanda to attend this debate, #weworkhardandprayhard.
